diss track,

Why MGK Deserves RESPEK On His Name

9:43 AM mssoellegant 1 Comments

Shortly after midnight Friday, August 31st 2018, Eminem dropped his new Kamikaze album without any sort of warning to the hip-hop community. Fans were sent into a frenzy thanks to Shady's fiery return, and he made sure not to hold anything back, sending haymakers at those he felt had wronged him in the past. Em calls on a diverse group of producers to lay down his foundation for the 13-track project, enlisting Ronny J, Tay Keith, Mike WiLL Made-It, Boi-1da, Fred Ball, IllaDaProducer, and more. Kamikaze is executively produced by Dr. Dre.

"I feel like I want to punch the world in the fucking face right now," the Detroit native angrily lashes out as he kicks off the album. Eminem doesn't mince his words when he attacks a plethora of figures inside and outside of rap, including Drake, Lil Pump, Joe Budden, Machine Gun Kelly, Donald Trump, Charlamagne Tha God, Tyler The Creator, to name a few.

On the track Not Alike, Eminem addresses MGK's comments about his daughter, rapping, "And I’m talking to you but you already know who the fuck you are, Kelly/ I don’t use sublims and sure as f--- don’t sneak-diss/ But keep commenting on my daughter Hailie."

Machine Gun Kelly has long been complimentary of Eminem as one of the figures in hip-hop who inspired him to pick up a pen. Back in 2012, Kelly ruffled Em's feathers when he tweeted that his daughter, Hailie, was “hot as f---.”

So, when he initially heard the album, he celebrated by popping a bottle of champagne which he posted on instagram. But on Monday (September 3), Kelly brazenly released Rap Devil. A play off Eminem's 2013 track Rap God, MGK's Rap Devil dumps on everything from Em's "weird" beard to being "sober and bored." It only gets worse from there, as Kelly claims that Eminem has banned him from any more appearances on his Shade 45 channel on SiriusXM and accuses Marshall Mathers of using his manager Paul Rosenberg to try and shelf MGK's career.

MGK defended Rap Devil on Twitter, writing that he's standing up for his generation amid Eminem's attack. "im standing up for not just myself, but my generation. im doing the same shit you did back in ur day. life is still real on my side, and i had to take time from the grind to defend myself from someone i called an idol. love, Rap Devil." — (@machinegunkelly) September 3, 2018

While hip hop fans collectively waited for Eminem to respond to Machine Gun Kelly’s diss track Rap Devil, Slim Shady was seemingly stirring the pot. On Thursday (September 6), the Detroit-bred rap machine hit Instagram Live with a video of himself playing Ms. Pac-Man for seven straight minutes. Some people believe it’s a subliminal aimed at MGK, who has a Ms. Pac-Man tattoo on each shoulder.

Producer Mr. Porter also stoked the flames earlier this week when he said Eminem vs. Machine Gun Kelly would be like Thanos vs. Iron Man. In other words, it would be a battle of epic proportions.

Another former D12 member, Bizarre, also issued an ominous warning aimed at MGK after Rap Devil’s release. “I think it was good. I think this is the best I ever heard Mr. Kelly rap in his life. I think he stayed up all night and wrote the best possible bars he possibly could, and I think it’s good for Hip Hop. But boy … but boy, the repercussions … ooof … oof. Boy gonna do you something nasty. You better stop playin’ with that boy.”

In other news on the morning of Sept 11th Remy Ma has criticised Joe Budden over his lack of response to a recent diss track from Eminem, while also claiming that “no one gives a fuck about what Machine Gun Kelly has to say”.

Some fans also speculate the rap beef could also stem from comments made by MGK during a freestyle rap with the LA Leakers in 2017 "I’m my favourite rapper alive since my favourite rapper banned me from Shade 45." MGK also possibly sent subliminal smoke toward Em with his verse on Tech N9ne's No Reason earlier in 2018. "To remind y’all you just Rap and not God and I don’t care who got bars," he raps.

In a horribly written and researched article by USA Today, excuses are thrown around as to why this rap beef is "uniquely terrible". Hardcore Shady fans argue that the MGK "diss" was on the softer side, throwing weak jabs while also paying homage. However that is one of things, IMHO, that makes this a diss of epic porportions.

The hater consensus circling social media on why this diss is quote unquote weak verbatim is;
  1. 1. Threatening to bang Kim, his ex wife... that he already made songs about not giving a fuck about? Weak.
  2. 2. Mentioning his daughter, but not even in a mean way? WEAK.
  3. 3. Uh oh! He said spaghetti! SMH garbage.
  4. 4. Whining about how Em had Dre? Seriously? Boooo.
  5. 5. Uh oh! He called him short... but it wasn't really in a clever way.
  6. 6. He called his beard weird... really? Like... Em has ended other rapper careers and talks about the sickest stuff in his songs and this dude is like "Your beard is weird" ... Weak.
For your reading pleasure, I have deciphered the standout bars from Machine Gun Kelly's scathing Rap Devil diss track to show exactly why MGK deserves some RESPEK on his name! I was trying to touch on almost every line because I feel like so many of them were very clever and creative, however for publishing and timing purposes a few will not have supporting theory or be mentioned.

"Ayy, somebody grab him some clippers (zzzzt)/ His fuckin' beard is weird/ Tough talk from a rapper payin' millions for security a year"

  • ☞ So many people criticize the opening line as being "lame", when in fact its is quite interesting. Not only is Em not normally seen sporting a bearded look, only in most recent years but if you are a true fan you know on his track Business from The Eminem Show album he raps about how he "can't leave rap alone, the game needs me/ 'Til we grow beards, get weird and disappear". Since most of the lyrics from Rap Devil dig at Em's past hits, true fans can assume the line is much more complex than some can grasp.

"I think my dad's gone crazy," yeah, Hailie, you right/ Dad's always mad cooped up in the studio, yellin' at the mic"

  • ☞ Again if you are true fan, you know this line speaks true to the Shady persona while using his own witty lyrical writings against him. Many people will say you don't ever bring up kids or family, but be real, how many disgusting things has eminem said about women over the years. If you don't want certain things brought up, you might think about keeping it out of your music.

"You're sober and bored, huh? (I know)/ About to be 46 years old, dog/ Talkin' 'bout "I'ma call up Trick Trick"/ Man, you sound like a bitch, bitch/ Man up and handle your shit (ugh)/ Mad about somethin' I said in 2012/ Took you six years and a surprise album just to come with a diss"

  • ☞ MGK throw a hard jab saying the almost 50 year old can't handle his own petty beefs by calling up known gate keeper of Detriot Christian "Trick Trick" Mathis. Trick has been a mainstay of Detroit's hip-hop scene for over 20 years. He also mentions his initial 2012 insensitive tweet regarding Em's daughter, who was 16-years-old at the time while MGK had just turned 22 in April. Kelly's sentiments got under Eminem's skin and the tweet still angers him to this day as seen by his response on "Not Alike." I guess no one stops to think, he didnt go looking up her age when he seen her appearance. My assumption is that he seen it, and then reacted, like everyone else on the internet. There are men out here in they mid 30s watching videos of Bhad Bhabie(Catch me outside girl) twerking, showing off her body and talking about her sex life. Mind you, a lot of these men KNOW her age going into watching that content.  You got people like DJ Akademiks, who are face timing this CHILD asking about who she had sex with.

"Homie we get it, we know that you're the greatest rapper alive/ Fuckin' dweeb, all you do is read the dictionary and stay inside"

  • ☞ While many people state Rap Devil is too soft by complimenting the same person targeted in the diss, I find it to be quite creative. As mentioned Eminem has long been an influence for MGK. Too many people now a days will be hypocritical, picking and choosing what they want to use to fit their narrative. I love the fact that Kels doesn't go back on his words while still standing his ground. As many have stated, no one wants to go against Eminem so we've got to give it up to someone who isn't going to back down from a fight against the champ.

"Fuck Rap God, I'm the Rap Devil/ Comin' bare-faced with a black shovel/ Like the Armageddon when the smoke settle/ His body next to this instrumental, I'm sayin'"

"I'm sick of them sweatsuits and them corny hats, let's talk about it/ I'm sick of you being rich and you still mad, let's talk about it/ Both of us single dads from the Midwest, we can talk about it/ Or we could get gully I'll size up your body and put some white chalk around it."

  • ☞ At the turn of the century, Eminem became known for his baggy color-coordinated sweatsuits that were a staple of his wardrobe throughout much of his rise to fame. He even capped off some outfits with a du-rag back then. MGK wonders how someone with a net worth north of over 9 figures could still be so angry and lash out at young hungry artists within the genre that has allowed him to prosper.

"Let's talk about the fact you actually blackballed a rapper that's twice as young as you (let's talk about it)/ Let's call Sway, ask why I can't go on Shade 45 because of you/ Let's ask Interscope how you had Paul Rosenberg trying to shelf me."

  • ☞ MGK fires back at Eminem for attempting to bring his blossoming career to a halt by allegedly banning him from all shows on his Shade 45 channel over at Sirius XM including Sway in the Morning. He then accuses the 45-year-old of having Interscope, who was headed by Eminem's manager Paul Rosenberg at the time, attempt to impede his career's progression thanks to ruffling Em's feathers with his 2012 tweet. Kelly has referenced this in previous interviews dating back to 2015 with Hot 97 and even hinted at Em's shady tactics in a 2017 freestyle with Power 106's L.A. Leakers. If you ask me trying to stop someone's bag is a bxtch made move, especially when you are worth so much already. Take it from someone who has personally experienced blackballing in the entertainment industry, it happens every day, on more than one occassion.

"Now tell me, what do you stand for? (what?)/ I know you can't stand yourself (no)/ Tryin' to be the old you so bad you Stan yourself (ha)"

"Why you claiming that I'ma call Puff?/ When you the one that called Diddy (facts)/ Then you went and called Jimmy (facts)/ They conference called me in the morning (what?)/ They told me you mad about a tweet/ You wanted me to say sorry (what?)/ I swear to God I ain't believe him/ Please say it ain't so (no)/ The big bad bully of the rap game can't take a fucking joke"

  • ☞ Bad Things rapper MGK is signed to multiple labels, including Bad Boy Records and Interscope. He claims that Eminem made calls to Diddy and Jimmy Iovine to ask MGK to apologize for his 2012 tweet about his daughter Hailie. Machine Gun Kelly admits he was taken aback when he heard the news, unable to comprehend how a MC known for firing off at everyone could be so sensitive about social media quips.

"Oh, you want some fuckin' smoke (what?)/ But not literally, you'll choke/ Yeah I'll acknowledge you're the GOAT/ But I'm The Gunner, bitch, I got you in the scope (brra)"

  • ☞ Lets point out again that MGK states Em is one of the greatest, while following it up by letting the people know he's the GOAT Hunter. RAW.

"Don't have a heart attack now (no)/ Somebody help your mans up (help)/ Knees weak of old age, the real Slim Shady can't stand up"

"Hello Marshall, my name's Colson/ You should go back to Recovery/ I know your ego is hurtin'/ Just knowin' that all of your fans discovered me (hi)"

  • ☞ Leading with the fact that MGK has literally used every one of Eminem's names... There is no denying I absolutely love this line and find it very witty, simply for the fact that the only time I had heard about Machine Gun Kelly was from Wild Boy Ft Waka. So sorry Em, but as one of your lifelong fans, people defintely discovered MGK through this beef.

"He like, "Damn, he a younger me/ Except he dresses better and I'm ugly/ Always making fun of me/ Stop all the thuggery, Marshall, you livin' in luxury (damn)"

"You got money but I'm hungry/ I like the diss but you won't say them lyrics out in front of me/ Shout out to every rapper that's up under me/ Know that I'll never do you like this fuckery/ Still bitter after everyone loves you/ Pull that wedgie out your dungarees (hey)"

  • ☞ MGK showers the rappers coming up after him with praise. He realizes Eminem's wrongdoing in going after the young MCs and promises he would never try to destroy or hurt their careers in the future. Kelly then moves into once again questioning how Em is still so mad at the world when he's one of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful artists to ever grace the mic. I did find a very interesting reaction video in where the person describes how he knows Kels and claims Kels does treat rappers under him like they are less than, not wanting people to play at certain spots because his equipment is already set up or something like that. You can check out the video HERE.

"I gotta respect the OGs and I know most of 'em personally (ayy)/ But you're just a bully actin' like a baby/ So I gotta read you a nursery (nursery)/ I'm the ghost of the future/ And you're just Ebenezer Scrooge (facts)/ I said on Flex anyone could get it/ I ain't know it would be you"

"We know you get nervous, Rabbit/ I see momma's spaghetti all over your sweater/ I wish you would lose yourself on the records that you made a decade ago, they were better."

  • ☞ MGK gets creative interjecting shrewd wordplay from Eminem's 8 Mile character and the lead track that coincided with the 2002 film track Lose Yourself. Kelly wishes Em would resort back to his former hitmaking ways of the previous decade instead of the old man "get off my lawn" attitude. It's safe to assume that MGK feels that Em's Revival album doesn't measure up anywhere near older projects such as The Eminem Show.

"Accordin' to them, you're a national treasure/ To me, you're as soft as a feather/ The type to be scared to ask Rihanna for her number/ Just hold her umbrella-ella-ella"

  • ☞ It was rumoured back in 2014 Em and Rhianna might have had a fling after their hit single Love The Way You Lie, although Ri made it known their relationship was strictly platonic.

"I'm not afraid," okay Oscar the Grouch, chill on the couch (fuck)/ You got an Oscar, damn/ Can anyone else get some food in their mouth? (For real)"

"They made a movie about you, you're in everybody's top ten/ You're not getting better with time/ It's fine Eminem, put down the pen/ Or write an apology about the simple fact you had to diss to acknowledge me."

  • ☞ The Cleveland native continues to narrate Eminem's history in the rap game. He still admits that Slim Shady's a legendary figure in most people's eyes, so there's no need to tear down others in the later stages of his career. MGK then boldly challenges Em to put down the pen and retire his rhyming ways or apologize for the fact he had to diss a bunch of rappers to maintain relevance.

"I am the prodigy/ How could I even look up to you? You ain't as tall as me/ 5'8" and I'm 6'4", seven punches hold your head still/ Last time you saw 8 Mile was at home on a treadmill"

  • ☞ So many people want to say this is like the lamest line of the entire track and while I agree, it could have been more creative, that does not negate the fact that the very next line takes aim at the fact that the last time he saw 8 mile was when he was BRabbit. Basically Em's gone hollywood on us, which again if you follow you will know to be true, he has no problem broadcasting the fact he is living the Hollywood lifestyle. Hey I'd like to be that guy too, but don't act like you still be in the hood.

"You were named after a candy/ I was named after a gangster (brr)/ And don't be a sucker and take my verse/ Off of Yelawolf's album, thank you (thank you)"

  • ☞ The whole point of the group D12 was for everybody to have an alter ego, specifically a villain, "a person completely different from who you are," as stated by member Bizarre. That's when Eminem took the name Slim Shady. When he assumed the stage name M&M, it was a playful reference to his initials, which he later began writing phonetically as "Eminem". While I realize this I like the comparison of saying he's named after a candy then turning around and saying don't be sucker. I saw someone say he "had to beg" Em not to take his verse off Yelawolf's upcoming album in this line, but that doesn't sound like begging to me, buddy. Im going to give him another point for this one.

"I just wanna feed my daughter/ You tryna stop the money to support her/ You the one always talkin' 'bout the action/ Text me the addy, I'm pullin' up scrappin'/ And I'm by my fuckin' self, what's happenin'?"

"Everybody always hated me, this isn't anything new to me/ Yeah there's a difference between us/ I got all of my shit without Dre producin' me (ayy)"

  • ☞ Aye, for real... Without Dr. Dre, there would be no Eminem. Atleast not the one we know today.

"I know you're not used to me/ Usually one of your disses should ruin me/ But bitch I'm from Cleveland, everybody quiet this evening, I'm reading the eulogy (shh)/ Dropped an album called Kamikaze, so that means he killed him/ Already fucked one rapper's girl this week, don't make me call Kim."

  • ☞ MGK puts the nail in the coffin of what he claims to be Eminem's eulogy by tempting to call the Shady Records CEO's ex-wife Kim Scott. This comes after already namedropping Em's daughter, Hailie, earlier on the Ronny J-produced tune's opening verse. He hints at being romantically involved with another rapper's girl already this week. Machine Gun Kelly claimed to have had sex with G Easy's ex, who is rumored to be Halsey in his hard-hitting freestyle on Hot 97 from last Friday (Aug. 31): "Let's just keep it G/ Only Eazy I fuck with is E/ I seen he's dyed his hair and got a hanging earring/ I fucked his girl now he look like me/ This shit overbearing/ How dare him, I dare him/ Don't think about comparin'/ Now turn that frat rap off/ I'm gettin' sick of hearing," he rhymes.

Its a shame that everyone wants to limit and simplify the lyrics of this scorching track. Now that the lyrics are out of the way, lets address the video imagery, since so many seem to think it's "weak" as well.
He needed two buses, an alley and black shovel. Nothing complex, just great videography, editing & story telling by Kels.

I particularly like the visual used here. While many people are going to have a problem with the symbolism used in Rap Devil, I choose to look at it creatively. I can certainly say he looks very "devilish" with the smoke blowing from his mouth, almost like fangs. Hate on it.

As of Wednesday night September 12th, Mr. Mathers dropped Part II of his Kamikaze interview with personality Sway Calloway. In a few comments made about the Rap Devil diss, Em admits he dissed Machine Gun Kelly for a much pettier reason than letting the world know how hot he thought his daughter was. He does bring up the comments made by MGK more recently, as earlier speculated in this article. Along with not liking MGK, he even says there are better rappers, no one is worried about MGK and he certainly doesn't care... Yet sway brings up the fact that he did invite MGK up to Shade45 for an interview, until he found out (by whom I wonder) MGK was not welcome on Shady's show until he "cleared up" the problems he had going on. So let's just get this straight... The man doesn't care, yet gets him banned from the show and disses him twice... Ok.

I saw a comment online that said "There's more to this than is being said. More than Em is willing to make public. Something about MGK is making Em proceed with caution. MGK had a shovel maybe he knows some dirt that we don't know...?" Just a thought to ponder. Watch the entire Part II Kamikaze Interview below.

In the end, I didn't want to make this into a comparison between the two even though I know so many will. That was not my point of the article. The point is to say there are plenty of reasons why this is an amazing diss track. Lets give credit where credit is due. MGK might not be Eminem, but I certainly can't wait to see where his career takes him. If he continues to make music like this, success is inevitable.

Fashion Nova - Innovators or Thieves?

8:40 AM mssoellegant 0 Comments

The fashion industry is obsessed with blackness but often doesn't put credit where it's due. For decades, as runways flooded with designers whose creativity depends on appropriating black culture, the glaring erasure of actual black people became more obvious. Cardi B, Amber Rose, Blac Chyna, Kylie Jenner and Cassie are just some of the celebrities who’ve helped make Fashion Nova one of the most visible clothing brands on the Internet. But has the company been creating affordable and trendy fashion for the masses or selling cheap knockoffs?

Jai Nice, who’s a designer and owner of the online store Kloset Envy, told her 1.4 million Instagram followers about it. She accused Fashion Nova of buying one of her hoodies, ripping off the design and material, then sending it back for a refund. Nice also posted a video of herself opening the returned package, shipped from the FN shipping department, and blasted the company as well as it’s founder Richard Saghian.

“Stop stealing from the African-American community @fashionnova,” wrote Nice. “Richard, idgaf how much y’all paying people to promo y’all cheap ass shit. Did you forget y’all just had one of the managers buy from @klosetenvy under another name just to get the sample, to remake it. Y’all to cheap to add the hood on it. SMFH" “Then y’all got sloppy and returned it back from the shipping department,” she added. “The f–kin’ nerve to buy and return. I’m not refunding shit. I’m sending it right back to y’all. Since y’all wanna play, I’m gonna post y’all employee whole name and address y’all bought it under … This ain’t the first or the last time that he think it’s cools to keep f–kin’ with the community.” Nice then posted a photo of the hoodie that she accused Fashion Nova and others of stealing and called Saghian a culture vulture. She also accused the brand of trying to shut down other companies for personal reasons.

“Don’t come talking no sh–,” she wrote. “This was designed last year October before anyone had it. No one started making this hoodie until I released it, let’s get that straight. This took four samples to get it right for the perfect fit and to make sure the sleeve stay puffy.”

“@Fashionnova you make enough money, you culture vulture,” added Nice. “You need to stop before I start dropping the real tea how you telling manufacturers to not work with certain companies because you don’t like them, and how you wanna put other companies outta business. Stop f–king with the Black community. You ain’t gonna keep getting away with this sh–.”

Fashion Nova clapped back with this subliminal;

Jai's reply has since been removed;
You can compare Kloset Envy’s cropped hoodie ($70) and the Fashion Nova version ($60) and judge for yourself.

Apparently Fashion Nova steals everybody’s designs. From David Korma to House of CB. So much of fashion is to take high fashion designs and make it affordable to the masses, so I wasn't so surprised to find fashion nova making like designs at a more affordable price. It was a bit disturbing they would order from another designer to steal their design however it wasn't shocking. Until I decided to order a dress I hadn't seen elsewhere!

I ordered the Nice For What Set in Black as well as the Manifest Wedges from Lola Shoetique.

I couldn't wait to get this in the mail since everyone has hopped on the fashion nova train only to be scrolling through IG and BOOM, there it is, from Fashion Nova.

When I tell you this time I WAS SHOCKED, believe it because I couldn't! Now I love finding the deals and steals but at what cost? Could you support a ripoff??

Sephora’s “Starter Witch Kit” and Spiritual Theft

12:46 PM mssoellegant 1 Comments

POTTERHEADS! Can you remember when that fateful day finally came and we said goodbye to the wizarding world as we knew it? I couldn't believe the end of Harry Potter had finally come. It was a bittersweet day. Yet off in the horizon a glimmer of hope shone! It was the magic that was FBAWTFT! When I went surfing the internet for more info to satisfy my wizardly craving I came across a blog called Native Appropriations by Dr. Adrienne Keene. Native Appropriations is a forum for discussing representations of Native peoples, including stereotypes, cultural appropriation, news, activism, and more as stated by Dr. Keene herself. She wrote an amazing piece titled Magic in North America. At first it almost felt like an attack on the franchise I have come to know and love, yet the more you read the more you understand how detrimental non native's portrayl of natives or native cultural experiences and values can be. Ever since then, I love reading Dr. Keene's blog, it gives me new insights I might not have thought of before. She also wrote an amazing piece on Wakanda should you want to dive right into that.

If not be sure to check out her latest on Sephora's Witch Kit. Representatives for the cosmetics giant confirmed a report in the Glossy that the trendy perfume brand Pinrose will launch a “Starter Witch Kit” in stores and online on Oct. 9, in plenty of time for Halloween.

She opens with "I start most mornings by smudging [for non-Natives: info here]*. Smudging is grounding to me. It’s centering. It’s personal. So when I see things like Sephora selling a $42 'Starter Witch Kit' from the brand Pinrose that includes a bundle of white sage, I have…thoughts."

If you happen to check out Dr. Keene's blog, let me know what you think!

[ma-ka-rohn] Review! - Featuring #potterohns

9:30 AM mssoellegant 0 Comments

Was my impulse purchase worth it!!? Champagne, baguettes, and the Eiffel Tower are some of the best things to come out of France. However, none of these are quite as delicious (and gluten-free) as the incomparable macaron. Lucky for us, Ma-ka-Rohn has opened its virtual doors to the masses and is sharing the wonders of the coveteted macaron with us all! Following their passion for the art of le macaron, owners Lexi and Romain attended the Olivier Bajard International School of Pastry in Perpignan, France, where they learned all they needed to know to make the perfect macarons.

A macaron (French pronunciation: [ma-ka-rohn]) is a sweet meringue-based pastry made with egg whites, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond flour, and food coloring. French macarons, unlike their american equivalent, do not contain any coconut. The macaron traditionally consists of a ganache, buttercream or jam filling sandwiched between two cookies. The name is derived from the Italian word macarone, maccarone or maccherone, the meringue. The confection is characterized by a smooth squared top, a ruffled circumference (referred to as the "foot" or "pied"), and a flat base. It is mildly moist and easily melts in the mouth.

Ma-Ka-Rohn offers a variety of special packages and are available for custom orders for birthdays and weddings. All of their ingredients (including the coloring for the macaron) are imported from France. Their chocolate is of the highest quality, Barry Callebaut, imported from Switzerland and the best part is all of their flavors, (except the cookies and cream) are 100% gluten-free… so feel free to eat away with peace of mind!

All that being said I saw these amazing BUTTERBEER flavored macarons on one of those insider videos we all seem to scroll past. Now before I give you my opinion on these macarons, I would like to preface it with I have NEVER tried a macaron, from here or anywhere else in the world.

I am a lover of all things Harry Potter and if you follow me on social media you will know I even have a deathly hallows semi colon dedicated to my baby brother who committed suicide in February of 2017. So when I laid my eyes upon classic potter flavored goodies, I about had a heart attack. They come in 4 different flavors, one for each house!
  • Butterbeer (Red & Yellow):  Butterbeer buttercream
  • Chocolate Frog (Black & Yellow): Chocolate ganache, Rice crispy pieces
  • Polyjuice(Green & Silver): Sour apple ganache
  • Fizzing Whizbees (Blue & Silver): Hawaiian punch buttercream, Nerds pieces
They come in 2 packs, a 4 pack with 1 of each flavor, or a 12 pack with 3 of each flavor. I chose to go with the 4 pack since I had never had a macaron and wasn't sure what my take would be. I also ordered the suprise me starter pack with 7 "surprise me" flavors and 1 milky way flavor individual to meet the minimum order requirement for free shipping.

Ordered Friday, August 24th - TOTAL: $24.23 USD

Potterohns 4 Pack - $7.99 USD ($23.99 12 Pack)
Surprise Me Starter 7 Pack - $13.99 USD
Single Galaxy Milky Way - $2.25 USD
Shipping - FREE (min $24)
Discount - None
Tax - Included

Shipping Notification - Same Day (Although it didn't actually ship out until after the weekend)
Delivered - Saturday, September 1st.

They arrived at my door nicely packaged marked fragile! I immediately opened up the box to find my beautifully packaged cookies unbroken and preserved with wonderful ice packs and cooling bubble wrap. The ice packs were no longer cold with it being the middle of summer but everything held up great. Makarohn makes you aware of their shipping schedule because they want everything to arrive fresh! Therefore order are shipped nationwide on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. They do not ship on Thursdays, Fridays, or holidays, this way your macarons avoid being stuck in a warehouse over the weekend. Orders placed after 12:00 PM EST on Wednesday will ship on the following Monday excluding holidays.

After I opened my package I immediately placed in the fridge for 1 hour as instructed to allow them to reset, then took them out for 20 minutes before eating. I'm sure you can guess I wanted to try the HP's first! I took that first bite of butterbeer and quickly realized these sweet treats were not for me. I am not one who like icecream, shakes, brownies or other desserts. My dessert selctions are very limited. While the flavoring on most was good, it was just much too sweet for me. Also the cookies were more crunchy than I expected and not as melt in your mouth as I have heard described. The surprise me packs do not tell you which flavors are what or what has come in your pack. I started out trying to guess the flavors by what the cookie looked like compared to the website but some I just couldn't tell. I know for sure I had pistachio, cotton candy, and toasted marshmellow.

All in all the order process was smooth, shipping was quick, and the flavors were good... but I only ended up taking one bite out of each macaron and then gave them to my children who also didn't finish them. The only one I completely ate was the butterbeer, it was by far my favorite. Fizzing whizzby came in close second.

If you like macarons, then these might be for you. Unfortunately they just weren't for me.

@MissLola #LolaBabe (Lola Shoetique) Review

12:24 PM mssoellegant 0 Comments

Ladies and Gents, I have to announce, I AM IN LOVE... Not just with my man! Being the skeptic that I am with my experience ordering online, I was nervous to try this brand. Everything seemed sooo cute but I was most concerned about the quality of the product. Then one day, I saw an outfit pictured on #lolaootd instagram and HAD TO HAVE IT! I decided that I would go home and do some research (like I always do with online shopping). I love watching Carli Bybel’s videos on youtube and found out that she did a review on some Lola Shoetique products.

All signs were pointing to me finally making my own purchase at Lola Shoetique (my inner girly girl screamed FINALLY, YES)! So that night, I went online and bought both the outfit I wanted and some shoes to match!

Ordered Friday, August 24th - TOTAL: $79.09 USD
Set Alone - $63.99 USD
Shoes Alone - $48.99 USD
Shipping - $4.99 USD
Discount (MISSLOLA 30%)- 33.89 USD

The online reviews from this seller can very. Many people seem to have amazing service in the area, especially when they can just drop by to pick up their orders however it seems people who have ordered online have experienced many problems. I experienced ZERO problems! I adore this brand and intend on ordering more from them. I loved that they had promos comparable to other big fashion brand names out right now! The quality was ah ma zinggg, the shipping was fast, the ordering was easy and for the price!? It was a steal! You can check them out at their website, misslola.com or their facebook and instagram.

Order below for Validity.

If you know of any other website or product you know of that is interesting and worth the value that you want me to do a review on, please let me know in the comments below. I hope you enjoy this review!

Fashion Nova HONEST Review

10:18 AM mssoellegant 0 Comments

Just for the record, I've been ordered from Fashion Nova over 10 different times throught the past 2 years.

Fashion Nova offers inexpensive clothing that's also in style and on trend. It all started when I saw Kylie Jenner in Naked Wardrobe. (You can read my NW Review HERE) After being dissatisfied with their pricing and discounts low and behold I found the holy grail that is Fashion Nova. I see a lot of celebrities and other Instagram models promoting their clothing. The only thing stopping me from placing an order was not knowing exactly what size I would be.

Ordering & Shipping
The ordering process was simple. Fashion Nova uses a checkout that looks almost exactly the same as online retailers these days. If you have a promo code you enter it on the first page that it directs you to after you hit "checkout." Some sites I've used before make the promo/gift card spot difficult to find but I didn't have issues with Fashion Nova.

While they advertise "free 2 day shipping on all U.S. orders $75 & up", I never receive my package in 2 days. Each time I've ordered it took 3-4 days of it being in shipment (this DOES NOT including processing time). So it actually took about a week for my stuff to get to me (from California and I live in Kentucky). In reality their shipping takes 2 to 3 days from the date it is shipped out, not from when you placed your order. Being an advid online consumer (buyer & seller) I knew that 2 day shipping meant just that, 2 day priority mail shipping from USPS.

So if you see the 2-day shipping banner and are hoping to get your items in time for the weekend don't forget to take into consideration processing time and that the 2-3 day shipping time frame doesn't go into effect until they actually ship it out! I've seen some people get angry on social media because their items did not arrive 2-3 days after their order was placed.

Returns & Exchanges
One thing that kept me from ordering from them for so long was their return policy. I don't live near their locations so I wouldn't be able to return in store and my only option would be to pay to ship the items back. They do not offer free return shipping.

They advertise "easy returns" but honestly, to me easy returns is when free return shipping is included in your order. NOT when you have to pay to ship it back yourself. I feel this is a difficult return policy due to the fact that you have to pay return postage yourself AND you only get store credit back. Also, if you return an online purchase to a store you can only get credit to use in store, it cannot be used online. They also don't offer exchanges because items are in high demand so you either have to ship your item back, wait for your credit and place a new order. This also means if you don't buy enough to get free shipping you'll have to pay for shipping again.

Quality
I was really impressed with the quality of their clothing. I made sure I read A LOT of the reviews on each item before I ordered. Fashion Nova is really well known for their jeans and I really liked the pairs I bought that fit. However I came across over 5 pairs that did not fit! Because the jeans are sourced from other brands not every size 3 will fit the same. I have had luck with the booty lifting jeans. They fit my curves nicely as I am a woman with a slim waist and thick thighs! The things I ordered that I liked the most was just about anything else! Shoes, purses, tops, dresses and especially their 2 piece sets! I have bought quite a few pairs of sunglasses and had a couple fall apart unfortunately.

Sizing
Sizing was another major thing that kept me from ordering from Fashion Nova. When I saw people ask on social media what size models are wearing/their stats the standard reply Fashion Nova gave was that the models are 5'6-5'11 and wear a size S-M (or 1, 3 or 5) depending on their body shape... This wasn't helpful because I was trying to decide between a 3 or 5 and without the model's measurements I had no idea what to order.

To improve their website I highly suggest providing model stats on each pic (height, bust, waist, etc) and the size the model is wearing. A lot of other sites already do this and it makes it a lot easier to compare the model stats to your own when determining what size to get.

Sales/Promotions
Check out their Instagram account for promotions. They often run sales/promo codes and will extend them for a couple days even if it says "one day only." If there's something you really want don't wait too long to order because their popular items go out of stock quickly. Although, one great thing about their site is that if an item goes out of stock in your size you can enter your email to be notified when it's restocked. Many of their basics or favorites will come back into stock quickly, however also be aware that many of their new arrivals are "in season" and while they will go on clearance normally the smaller sizes will sell out and not be restocked.

Also, a lot of beauty gurus and bloggers have promo codes offering 10-20% off your order. So google for these codes or search on Instagram and YouTube for people hauling Fashion Nova. If they've collaborated with Fashion Nova there will most likely be a promo code in their description/caption.

Overall
Overall my actual ordering experience has always been great. Although some things (especially in white) I bought were much too opaque and cheaply made, I love most everything I get from FN. The trick is figuring out what materials work for you and what doesn't! Also an improvement to the return policy would be nice! Provide free return shipping or at least give the customer their money back and not just store credit. If they did this I'd order a lot more because I wouldn't have to worry as much about something not working out and losing money from having to send it back or exchange it.

Until next time. - D💋
